The Career Guidance & Counselling Cell was inaugurated on 12th March, 2012 by Dr. M. Ramadass, Director of Studies of Pondicherry University and Dr.V.Prithiviraj, Principal, Pondicherry Engineering College.

CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME:
In consonance with the UGC guidelines, courses in arts, sciences and humanities are exhibited to the students studying in our college. More focus is given to research avenues after P.G. in Indian universities and also foreign universities in U.S.A, Canada, U.K., etc.
CAREER PLANNING PROGRAMME:
On joining the Postgraduate programmes, the students are given information about their career planning. The following job opportunities are highlighted through this programme:
- Indian Administrative Services (I.A.S) and allied Services like I.P.S, I.F.S, P.C.S. and so on
- TNPSC Group-I Service
- Subordinate Services in State Government Offices
- Staff Selection Services like Income Tax, Customs Duty Inspectors, etc.,
- Banking Services
- Railway Services
- Insurance Companies Services
COMMUNICATION- SKILLS DEVELOPMENT:
The success of entering into a profession or job or Higher Education requires the possession of various communication skills. Programmes are organised to develop the communicative skills for the students. Classes are arranged for Spoken English, English Grammar, English for Competitive Examinations and remedial classes for slow learners.
PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT:
To develop various dimensions of personality of students undergoing different PG courses, Personality Development Programmes are offered by the Centre. The following programmes are conducted generally:

- Positioning
- Etiquette
- Occupational Diseases
- Mass Counselling
- Esteem Building
- Goal Setting
- Self-concept
- Interpersonal Communication-Transactional analysis
PHYSIOLOGICAL COUNSELLING:
Apart from developing students’ personality, there is a need to arrange psychological counselling like Mass Psychological Counselling and Individual (one-to-one) Psychological Counselling for the depressed and problem-oriented students.
CAMPUS RECRUITMENT / JOB FAIR:
Different kinds of recruiting agencies, national and international, have been visiting our college for the purpose of recruiting qualified and suitable candidates from among the students of the Centre. Companies engaged in Information Technology, Cellular services, Electrical appliances, Chemical industry and others, visit our institution. This is done apart from the preparations of students for various subordinate services through the special coaching classes sponsored by the UGC.
LEADERSHIP QUALITIES:
The Centre is taking efforts to develop leadership qualities of the students in the campus. Experts in leadership development are invited often to breed the qualities among the students. They are asked to organize programmes with AIR, private channels and other media to design and conduct programmes relating to career guidance and course guidance on and off the campus.
