Fit India Movement 29th August 2019

On the direction of Ministry Of Human Resource Development ,UGC and Ministry Of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India , inauguration of FIt India Movement programme in Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), Puducherry was inaugurated by the Director of the Centre, at appeal of fitness mission of “Fit India Movement” launched by honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of “Sports Day” from Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi. The programme was organised by Mr. S. Rajabathar and Dr. V. Karthikeyan, NSS Coordinator. The Teaching, Non-teaching Staff and students in big number took the oath of fitness. PM Modi launched a nation-wide Fit India Movement in New Delhi, where he administered a fitness pledge to the people of the country in a live stream event. PM Modi was also connected live with KMCPGS students along with others throughout the country. PM Modi has advised all that the relationship of success and fitness is interlinked, and common character of all successful people of the world is their focus on fitness. KMCPGS has organized a march which saw active participation from teaching, non-teaching staff and students. The group assembled at the entrance of the college, marched around the campus, as part of the ‘attempt to walk 10,000 steps a day’ and regrouped where they witnessed the live telecast of the Prime Minister speaking on the Fit India movement.

Student Induction Programme(SIP)

Week of Welcome(WoW) -FIRST YEAR M.A., M.Sc., M.COM. BATCH 2019-2020

Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies organised Student Induction Programme cum Week of Welcome for First Year PG Students as stipulated by the University Grants Commission as part of Quality Mandate Initiatives in Higher Education and the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Govt. of Puducherry, Puducherry. In this regard a four day Student Induction Workshop was held from 18/9/2019 to 21/9/2019. Director of the Centre Dr. Aravazhi Irissappane, Director, KMCPGS, took the initiative to implement the SIP Workshop. The first day of the Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Shahin Sultana, Professor, Social Work Department and Dean, Student’s Welfare, Pondicherry Central University. Dr. M. Sangararadje, Centre Director, Presided over the function in lieu of the Director Dr. Aravazhi Irissappane. The Workshop was organized as per the Guidelines of UGC to familiarise the first year students to the new environment of the institution as they come from different backgrounds, rural and urban, into the higher education system. The four day Workshop had various components that served to help the new students to gain confidence in their new environment. At the Inaugural Dr, Sultana also SIP Coordinator for Pondicherry University stressed the need for students to undergo such training before they started regular classes. The Director of the Centre also emphasised the importance for the students to get to know their environment –the campus, its facilities, teachers, and senior students as well their own peer students before they settle down for the courses. This is to inculcate not only confidence in them but to remove inhibitions or fear in mingling with other stakeholders of the college. The Workshop had various Sessions on English Communication Skills. Environmental Consciousness, Health and Hygiene, Safety and Security, Value Education, Personality Development, Motivational Talk, Volunteering, etc. They were also informed about Research facilities available in the Campus, e-Library, Labs, Smart Classrooms, WiFi facility throughout the Campus, about NSS, Legal Services Clinic, Red Ribbon Club, Placement Cell and Career Counselling, NET and other Career oriented Coaching Classes, Funding Agencies for Research Projects, on Examinations and Evaluation Systems, Plagiarism etc. Apart from these sessions the Workshop also had Components on Literary, Cultural and Sports Activities in order to find out the talents of the new comers in the respective fields of interest. Most importantly they were also given foundation sessions on Human Values and Professional Ethics, which will enable them to not only excel in their fields of Study but also become better citizens of the world.

FIT India Plogging Programme

Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), Puducherry has organized FIT INDIA Plogging Run on 2nd October 2019 on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji. The main aim of this Plogging Run is to promote the habit of fitness & cleanliness in all the citizens. As per the FIT INDIA Movement which is launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and as per the UGC guidelines about the Fit India Plogging Run, Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), Puducherry conducted the Plogging Run. The Plogging Run was flagged by the Director, Dr.Aravazhi Irissapan, on 02.10.2019 from the college premises. During the programme students made awareness regarding the physical fitness and cleanliness to the public.

Run-for-Unity

Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies (KMCPGS), Puducherry celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on 31st October, 2018. The KMCPGS organized a ‘Pledge Taking Ceremony’ and ‘Run for Unity’ to commemorate “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”. The event was inaugurated by the Director, Dr.Aravazhi Irissapan. Students and faculties took the oath to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and participated in ‘Run for Unity’ to spread awareness.
